What if I make it worse!  What can I do?

These are the questions we hear a lot from clients in relation to managing ill or injured employees. Don’t be mistaken, this is one of those “grey” area’s of management which requires careful consideration, a clear understanding of your obligations, knowledge of employee rights and obligations, compassion and balance. In short – it is not easy.

Too often this is an area of management that is seen as “just too hard” and therefore is not managed effectively. This does not benefit your organisation, your employees or your bottom line.

This course will help you navigate your way though the competing requirements and myriad of legislative obligations and give you some practical skills to more confidently know what you can and can’t do and when you might need to seek external assistance.

The course will look at work related and non work related illness and injury impacting on the employee’s capacity at work.

At the end of the training course, participants will be able to:-

  • Confidently understand when an employer can and should intervene;
  • Understand the risks and benefits of taking or not taking action;
  • Understand the legislative framework applying to ill or injured employees;
  • Manage risks through appropriate decision making; and
  • Recognise the key indicators for seeking assistance.
