Talks about her experience with the Livingstones Graduate program.

During my time as a Research Consultant I had the opportunity to work on a range of Industrial Relations issues with varying degrees of autonomy.    I found that my team leader, and other team members,  afforded me enough autonomy so that I felt like I could go away and work on an issue on my own and still be able to seek assistance and guidance at every step of the process.  I found that my team provided me with a good balance between ensuring that I received enough guidance and assistance and trusting that I could do the job that was assigned to me. 

Completing the tasks that I had been assigned enabled me to learn more about Workplace Relations.    Having come straight from University, I found that my role at Livingstones allowed me to apply the theoretical knowledge that I had garnered throughout my degree in a more practical manner.  As my time wih Livingstones progressed, I found that I was learning how to think practically and therefore apply the law in a practical manner.

By the time I was promoted to Consultant I had already spent a number of months drafting agreements, conducting and assisting with workplace investigations and building client relationships.  Within the first year of working at Livingstones I had already met most of my team’s major clients and had gone even further than that to become some of those clients’ primary contact person.

It was during a work experience assignment with an employer association that I first became aware of Livingstones Australia.
